Family Faith Formation
St. John Paul II understood the importance of family as it relates to the Church on earth. “As the family goes, so goes the nation, and so goes the whole world in which we live,” he said. Family Faith Formation focuses on the importance of parents as the first catechists of their children and builds on the continuous growth of each person’s relationship with Jesus Christ. We offer opportunities for spiritual and interpersonal development at every stage of life.
“Let the children come to me.”
Christ’s words beckon children of all ages to grow closer to Him and better understand God’s love for them. Our Family Faith Formation program centers on the importance of parents as their child’s primary catechists. We offer the most engaging and inspiring resources for families with children in Kindergarten through 6th grade and plan community gatherings for fellowship and experiential prayer.
Parents attend sessions the first Thursday of each month in which our Faith Formation Team provides guidance for the theme of the month. Then families attend an interactive session together one Thursday each month where they can explore and learn together important facets of our Catholic faith.
For our families of 7th and 8th graders we have Confirmation Preparation sessions on Wednesdays and Sundays, respectively. During these two years of preparation, the Confirmation Team presents our children with a deeper understanding of their faith and journeys with them as they explore their values and beliefs.
“Parents, you have been entrusted with a treasure of faith to pass on to your precious children with the support of the Church and other families! This year you will experience renewed joy in Christ as you nurture faith in the hearts of your children and grow in friendship with other families. We are here for you all along the way! God bless!” (Dominic Salamida and the Faith Formation Team)
Our Family Faith Formation program is designed to work with your busy schedules. The program involves a Parent Meeting on the first Thursday of the month where our Faith Formation team will guide you through the theme of the month. Then each family attends one other session each month where you participate in interactive activities as a family and as a community.
Athough in the early stages of formation, we are developing a Youth Ministry for our high school teenagers where they can continue to grow and strengthen their relationship with Jesus and their parish community.
