Faith Formation Registration is now OPEN!
We are currently registering for K-6 Family of Faith (including First Holy Communion), Confirmation Year 1, and Confirmation Year 2.

Parents are called and empowered by Christ to fulfill their mission to proclaim the Gospel of Life and to help their children grow closer to Him and better understand God’s love for them. Our Family Faith Formation program centers on the importance of parents as their child’s primary catechists. We offer the most engaging and inspiring resources for families with children in Kindergarten through 6th grade and plan community gatherings for fellowship and experiential prayer.
For our families of 7th and 8th graders we have Confirmation Preparation sessions on Wednesdays and Sundays, respectively. During these two years of preparation, the Confirmation Team presents candidates with a deeper understanding of their faith and journeys with them as they seek to deepen their discipleship in Christ. These sessions include prayer, teachings, small group sharing and testimonies of the Holy Spirit’s work in one’s life. Come Holy Spirit!

Family of Faith Formation for Grades K-6 will consist of:
– Sophia Family of Faith Curriculum: Life in Christ
– Pflaum Gospel Weeklies (4th – 6th Grades)
– Monthly Parent and Student Enrichment Nights, typically the 1st Thursday or Sunday of each month starting in September
– Monthly Family Community Meetings (Thursday evening or Sunday afternoon)
– Weekly Mass Attendance and other Parish Activities/ Celebrations
– Additional Immediate Preparation for those children receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Holy Communion
Required Parent Only Orientation Meeting: August 22, 2024 @ 6pm in the church
*First Holy Communion: The Diocese of St. Augustine guidelines require a consecutive two (2) year process (first and second grade) to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion. The first year of study helps the children/youth come to a foundational knowledge of Jesus. They learn what Jesus teaches us about God’s love for us and how we can respond to that love. The second year of the process continues these themes and provides the children/youth with a growing sense of their Catholic identity. It is during the second year that children/youth celebrate First Reconciliation/Communion.
*6th Grade Option: If you have a student who is entering the 6th grade, you may choose the Blaze/Masterpiece program for girls or the Fraternus program for boys instead of K-6 Family of Faith. Both of these programs are “in class” options that are held on Wednesday nights. Additional fees apply.
If you would like to register your 6th grader for Blaze/Masterpiece or Fraternus, please select this option on the form.
The Required Parent Only Orientation for Blaze/Masterpiece and Fraternus is September 4th @ 6pm.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a 2-year program. Confirmation Year 1 is required before registering for Confirmation Year 2.
– Confirmation Year 1 weekly meetings (Wednesday evenings)
– Weekly Mass Attendance and other Parish Activities/ Celebrations
– Service Hour Completion (15 hours)
Required Parent Only Orientation Meeting: September 4th @ 6pm
Confirmation girls participate in the Blaze/Masterpiece program and boys participate in the Fraternus program. Both meet separately on Wednesday nights.
Confirmation Year 2 Preparation will consist of:
– Completion of Year 2 using a Confirmation based curriculum
– Confirmation Year 2 weekly meetings (Sunday evenings)
– Weekly Mass Attendance and other Parish Activities/ Celebrations
– Day Long Retreat
– Service Hour Completion for both years
Required Parent Only Orientation Meeting: September 22nd 6:15pm
Please note: Completion of Confirmation Year 1 is required to register for Confirmation Year 2. Confirmation prep is a 2-year process as outlined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Diocese of St. Augustine.
To certify a previous year of faith formation other than at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, please submit a letter from the church of attendance no later than August 15th to the Family Life Office. Otherwise, students will be placed in Confirmation Year 1.
